In the week when our Group was named Employer of the Year at the Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group Celebration Awards for the support we provide to apprentices, we received more great news.  

We are very pleased to learn that we have been selected as a finalist in the Employer of the Year category of the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards, which this year have a theme of innovation and sustainability.  

Housing Plus Group has been included on the shortlist of Staffordshire’s top employers with a flexible, people-centred approach helping us to grow. We showcased the introduction of hybrid working to support better a work-life balance and underlined the important role played by elected representatives on the HPG Voice Forum in decisions and changes affecting employees.  

The judges also learned about our early careers support, the introduction of our electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, an enhanced joining experience for new colleagues and improved access to learning development.  

They took into account our excellent internal communications on channels including live Q&As with our executive directors, informative emails and newsletters and our popular staff intranet too.  

Director of people and marketing, Tony Bishop said: “The judges were impressed with our significant increase in engagement, the action plans developed in response to our employee engagement survey and the changes that have already take place. Many more of our people now recommend HPG as a great place to work.” 

The Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards will be presented on 14 July.
