Homes Plus receives grant to help support more community groups and projects

More community groups and grassroots projects are receiving support in Staffordshire and Shropshire, thanks to grant funding we have received through the Efficiency East Midlands Ltd (EEM) Community Donation Scheme.

More than £23,500 is being put towards our Homes Plus My Community Fund, thanks to the donation from the not-for-profit organisation which provides members with a simpler way of procuring goods and services.

Kevin Davies, Head of Neighbourhoods, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this grant funding from EEM which, together with the support we already receive from Jewson, is allowing us to help even more community groups and projects through our My Community Fund.

As part of our promise to make a positive difference to homes, lives and communities, we support a wide range of community and grassroots projects and we’re always looking to help more, where we can.

We prioritise projects that benefit our neighbourhoods and communities. If you are inspired to do something amazing that will benefit our customers, we want to hear about your idea.”

Through our Homes Plus My Community Fund we have helped support many community projects, including a hub offering a warm and welcoming space for families, a charity that recycles donated clothes and equipment to assist low-income individuals to explore the natural world and a project tackling loneliness and isolation among the elderly.

Rebecca Dermody-Simmons, Chief Executive, Efficiency East Midlands (EEM), said: “We are delighted to see our EEM Community Donation being put to such meaningful use through Homes Plus’ My Community Fund. Supporting initiatives that have a direct and positive impact on local communities is at the heart of what we aim to achieve, and it’s fantastic to see how this funding has contributed towards a variety of meaningful projects, including Kitsquad CIC’s recycling of donated clothes and equipment to help people access the countryside, the creation of a new sensory room for babies and children at a play centre, free toddler groups, craft clubs, and cuppa clubs at a community hub, much-needed grants to food banks for Christmas, a £1,500 donation to the charity behind the Shrewsbury & Oswestry Crucial Crew safety event for 1,400 children, and a project tackling loneliness and isolation in Shropshire’s rural communities. We’re proud to partner with organisations like Homes Plus who are making a real difference where it matters most.”

The My Community Fund, delivered in partnership with Jewson and EEM, supports grass-roots organisations in Staffordshire and Shropshire. Local charities and voluntary groups can apply for grants online at: https://www.homesplus.co.uk/help-and-advice/the-my-community-fund/
