Housing Plus Group and The Wrekin Housing Group prepare for merger
We are approaching an exciting milestone as we prepare for the formal approval of our newly merged organisation.
The formal merger will be completed on January 6th 2025, at which time The Wrekin Housing Group will become part of the new Housing Plus Group. This merger represents an incredible opportunity to combine our strengths and do more for our customers. Leading the new organisation will be Wayne Gethings as Chief Executive of the new Housing Plus Group. Wayne will work alongside Catherine Dass as the Chair during our transition period and Debbie Griffiths who will be the Senior Independent Director and Vice Chair.
When the two organisations merge in the New Year, the new Housing Plus Group will become one of the largest housing associations in the West Midlands with more than 33,000 homes and we are looking forward to the increased social and economic impact we will make in communities right across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Telford & Wrekin in the next five years.
Our new group will be more resilient, with plans to invest an additional £55 million in existing homes and a greater capacity to build more affordable homes, cementing our leading role in providing much needed housing and care across our communities.
It will continue to work with and listen to customers, to help deliver better services for them. It is also set to provide even more opportunities for our employees and be a great place to work.
These changes will not affect any customer’s right to live in their home. There will be no changes to existing tenancy or lease agreements because of the merger. Customers will continue to access the services they need by contacting their landlord the same way and dealing with the same teams they do now.
