Merry Christmas from Housing Plus Group
As the Housing Plus Group prepares to merge with the Wrekin Housing Group in the New Year, becoming one of the largest housing associations in the West Midlands with over 33,000 homes, we are reflecting on this year’s achievements whilst looking forward to the increased social and economic impact we will make in communities right across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Telford & Wrekin in the next 5 years.
Building new homes
We developed new homes for those in housing need, including at our flagship development in Perton where we recently completed the 100th new home on the site. Our new group will be more resilient with a greater capacity to build more affordable homes, cementing our leading role in providing much needed housing and care across our communities
Maintaining existing homes
We maintained our homes, with a focus on safety and damp and mould and continued to invest in climate-conscious improvements to their energy-efficiency. Our new group plans to invest an additional £55 million in existing homes over the next 5 years and is committed to delivering better services.
Listening to our customers
We improved our customers’ experience by listening to their views and involving them in the way we shape our services. Our new group will continue to work with and listen to customers, and in doing so, be able to provide better services for them.
As we prepare for Christmas, our Community Hubs, where we offer free and confidential employment and money advice, have again become warm spaces. We are supporting local food banks and community groups through the Homes Plus My Community Fund and we wish to thank our partners Jewson and EEM for backing this initiative.
A great place to work
One of our electrical apprentices was named 2024 Apprentice of the Year at the Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group Awards and our Group electrical manager Steve Ujma was presented with a special award as an outstanding apprentice mentor and champion. Our new group is set to provide even more opportunities for our employees and be a great place to work.
