Homes Plus backs Staffordshire’s Best Kept Village Competition

Homes Plus is sponsoring The Community Foundation’s Best Kept Village competition for 2023.

The competition is open to all communities in Staffordshire and is judged in two categories with £200 cash prizes available for the best small and large villages. There are also awards available for community spirit and sustainability.

Organisers encourage people to show what makes their areas special and showcase the pride they have in their village, as well as illustrating its social benefits and beauty.

We are proud to be one of the sponsors of this contest for another year through our Homes Plus My Community Fund. The fund helps charities, voluntary groups and community organisations who share our drive to make a positive difference.

Jo Cooper is the partnerships and project manager for the Community Foundation for Staffordshire.

Jo said: “Through the generous sponsorship from Homes Plus we are able to breathe new life into a competition steeped in history, enabling us to continue our cherished traditions and preserve the essence of community pride. By fostering this remarkable event, we actively encourage communities to engage with their neighbours, embrace the outdoors, to look after the environment and nature, and forge lasting connections with people and our planet.

“Together, we strengthen the bonds that make Staffordshire flourish and remind us of the extraordinary power found within united communities."

The winner’s ceremony will be held on Wednesday 6th September and prizes will be awarded by the competition sponsors.

Homes Plus Director of Housing, Sam Allcott said: “We are proud to sponsor the Best Kept Village competition as we know how important it is to many of our customers.

“It brings people together, encourages people to take pride in where they live and provides a sense of community to people of all ages.

“After the covid-19 pandemic we know how important having a sense of community is, as it can give people a real boost during tough times.

“We are over the moon to be able to continue to support the competition which involves the many beautiful villages in one of the counties where we work.”
